Daf HaYomi B'Halacha Daily Email - 6 Adar 1/Feb 7

How many times is tiskabel recited on Purim night?

After completing Shemoneh Esreh, the chazan says a full Kaddish--including the stanza of tiskabel. The Megilah is read afterwards, followed by Kedusha D’sidra (U’va L’tzion), followed by another full Kaddish. The poskim disagree about whether tiskabel should also be included in this Kaddish. Some say that it is not necessary, since it was already said after Shemoneh Esreh. Others say that it can be a supplication for acceptance of the tefillos included in Kedusha D’sidra. Many congregations do not say tiskabel. When Purim falls on Motzei ShabbosHavdalah is recited after kriyas Megilah. The customary tefilah of V’yiten Lecho is recited at this time as well.

Are there alternative places to say Al Hanisim?

Al Hanisim is recited during each of the tefilos of Purim. If it was omitted, it is not necessary to repeat Shemoneh Esreh. if one remembered prior to saying Hashem’s name, he should go back to the appropriate place and say it. If he only remembered after saying Hashem’s name, he may recite a supplication before yihyu l’rotzon that mentions the miracles together with the paragraph of biymei MordechaiAl Hanisim is also recited during Birchas Hamozon. If it was omitted at night, one does not go back. Some Achronim hold that if it was omitted during the first meal of the day, Birchas Hamozon must be repeated. Others disagree and maintain that Birchas Hamozon is never repeated. Under all circumstances, if one realized the omission prior to saying Hashem’s name he should go back. If one only realized after saying Hashem’s name, he should say a special Harachaman followed by biymei Mordechai.

Can Al Hanisim be said on both days of Purim?

Al Hanisim should only be said on the day which Purim is celebrated: on the fourteenth for open cities and on the fifteenth for walled cities. B’dieved, if one said Al Hanisim on the wrong day, or even on the fourteenth or fifteenth of Adar Rishon, he does not need to repeat Shemoneh Esreh. If it is not clear whether a city was walled during the time of Yehoshua Ben Nun, people there should say Al Hanisim on both days. Some cities primarily celebrate Purim on the fourteenth and only observe the fifteenth as a stringency. People in those cities only recite Al Hanisim on the fourteenth.
