This week we discuss the first Mitzvah in the Torah, as mentioned in Parshas Bo. We will focus specifically on crystalizing why Rosh Chodesh is sometimes one day and sometimes two - and why our months are sometimes 29 days and sometimes 30 - and how this plays out in today's Halacha l'Maaseh.

In our introduction page, we provide clear and concise background to Kiddush HaChodesh in general, and how it evolved into our current calendar.
'פרשת וארא - דיני הזכרת שם ה

This sugya discusses the Halachos regarding uttering the various names of Hashem, as mentioned in this week's Parsha - ושמי ה' לא נודעתי להם. We begin with discussion of the proper way of pronouncing the name of Hashem. We discuss the meaning behind this concept and if is similar to the Kri-Ksiv found throughout the Torah. We also discuss the proper kavana needed.

We then discuss the Halachos regarding saying Hashem's name by spelling out the letters of the name as it is written. (An example of this case is the custom by some to say L'Shem Yichud, in which the name of Hashem is recited by spelling it out.) Additionally, we discuss another Shem referenced in Parshas Shmos - Eh'keh asher Eh'keh - and its halachic status.
