More than 20,000 people flocked to the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia last night (Sunday) to celebrate the historic partnership between a high school yeshiva in Lakewood and philanthropists, an initiative of Governor R. Laser (Louis) Shiner to double the salaries of students at the largest yeshiva in the United States.
The event lasted more than four hours, and included dancing and singing in honor of the Torah led by the great Torah scholars in the United States. And how pleased the head and founder of the yeshiva is from the late Rabbi Aharon Kotler.
The climactic moment was recorded when the Rosh Yeshiva Gaon Rabbi Aryeh Malkiel Kotler, who was received with great singing by the crowd of tens of thousands, spoke. There was also a thrilling class of accepting the yoke of the kingdom of heaven led by the Rosh Yeshiva Gaon Rabbi Yeruham Olshin.
The impressive and groundbreaking event in which they emphasized the importance of Torah scholars bringing the blessing into the world, was held by a high school yeshiva in Lakewood, New Jersey. The event highlighted the historic partnership between the Grand Yeshiva and its young yeshiva, with homeowners and governors from across the United States.
The newly selected venue in Philadelphia contains 20,000 seats, double the size of the venue planned about two months ago in Trenton, New Jersey, where the convention was to be held for the first time. But following the onslaught of tickets running out within a few days, which necessitated more venues, the event was relocated to Philadelphia.
The music was conducted by Rabbi Meir Adler, the husband plays Dobi Meisels, Yankee Daskel and more. Produced by Shlomi Steinmetz.
The unprecedented class held last night continues to arouse great excitement among Bnei Torah communities throughout New Jersey and beyond, from the “yeshiva world,” passing through the Hassidic communities, to other Torah centers that understand this event was extraordinary.
Behind the event was Governor Laser (Louis) Shiner, who has spent most of the past year not only donating huge sums of money to the initiative, but also putting tremendous efforts to get other governors to join the cause.
As part of the partnership, millions of dollars were raised to double the scholarships to students who reach $ 60 million a year. The initiative, which has now been joined by dozens of homeowners in the activities of Laser Shiner, gave each student $ 13,500 a year, compared to $ 4,200 last year, an annual increase of more than $ 8,000 per student.
