The Shotzer Rebbe of Williamsburg, Harav Yosef Chaim Moskowitz, zt”l. (Hershey Rubinstein)The Chassidic world mourns the Shotzer Rebbe of Williamsburg, Harav Yosef Chaim Moskowitz, zt”l, who was niftar on Monday night. The Rebbe was niftar at the age of 78, leaving behind a profound void.His father was the esteemed Rebbe Harav Yechiel Michel Moskowitz, zy”a, and he was the grandson of the revered Rebbe Harav Shalom of Shotz, zy”a.

Upon reaching the age of marriage, he married the daughter of the Deszher Rebbe of Miami, zy”a.

The Rebbe, zt”l, led his renowned Beis Medrash Kehal Da’as Shalom Shotz, located in the heart of the Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn. He was widely recognized as a talmid chacham who authored numerous sefarim.

The Rebbe is survived by his only son, Harav Yitzchak Yechiel Michel Moskowitz, who serves as the Rav of Shotz in Monsey. His sons-in-law include Harav Yaakov Dovid Ben Zion Teitelbaum, Rosh Kollel of Me’oreri HaShachar; Harav Yisrael Avraham Alter Taub, the Rav of Zichron Naftali Aryeh Kalov in Boro Park; Harav Dovid Dov Hager, son of the Vizhnitzer Rebbe of Monsey; Harav Menachem Shlomo Hager, son of the Vizhnitzer Rebbe of London; Harav Pinchas Shalom Rotenberg, son of the Kossoner Rebbe; Harav Naftali Meizlish, and Harav Avraham Yehoshua Asher Twerski.

The levayah will commence Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from his beis medrash in Williamsburg. It will then proceed to the Shotz Beis Medrash in Monsey at 1:30 p.m. Finally, the kevurah will be near his revered father-in-law, the Desher Rebbe, in Monsey.
