פרשת ויחי - מחשבה מצטרפת למעשה
This sugya discusses the topic of Machshava Mitztarefes L'Maaseh. We begin by analyzing the concept of a Machshava Ra'ah and the various applications - whether or not it results in an action. We discuss if and when one can be punished for a Machshava Ra'ah (even if a resultant action or result of the intent would not be forbidden). We discuss the status of thoughts and intentions in halacha, and whether one can be held accountable for his thoughts alone.
A famous example is Mechiras Yosef, discussed in the current parshiyos, where although the intent of the shevatim was evil, the result was the salvation of Klal Yisroel. We discuss the various mefarshim on the Parsha who address this idea. |
