This week we discuss the Halachos regarding uttering Hashem's name. We begin with the Passuk in Parshas Shemos that mentions the proper way of pronouncing the name of Hashem. We discuss the meaning behind this concept and if is similar to the Kri-Ksiv found throughout the Torah. We also discuss the proper kavana needed. Also discussed are the Halachos regarding saying Hashem's name by spelling out the letters of the name as it is written. (An example of this case is the custom by some to say L'Shem Yichud, in which the name of Hashem is recited by spelling it out.) Additionally, we discuss another Shem referenced in this Parsha - Eh'keh asher Eh'keh - and its halachic status.
פרשת ויחי - מחשבה מצטרפת למעשה

This sugya discusses the topic of Machshava Mitztarefes L'Maaseh. We begin by analyzing the concept of a Machshava Ra'ah and the various applications - whether or not it results in an action. We discuss if and when one can be punished for a Machshava Ra'ah (even if a resultant action or result of the intent would not be forbidden). We discuss the status of thoughts and intentions in halacha, and whether one can be held accountable for his thoughts alone.

A famous example is Mechiras Yosef, discussed in the current parshiyos, where although the intent of the shevatim was evil, the result was the salvation of Klal Yisroel. We discuss the various mefarshim on the Parsha who address this idea.
