How should a person conduct himself during the hakofos?

The Rishonim write that a person should dance to his fullest for the sake of kavod haTorah. They explain that there is precedent from Dovid Hamelech, who danced with all his strength in front of the Aron. Like Dovid, one should not feel that vigorous dancing is beneath his dignity. The Arizal said that he reached his greatest spiritual heights from celebrating on Simchas Torah. The Vilna Gaon, too, danced with all his strength for the honor of the Torah. It is written that if a person is careful to celebrate Simchas Torah to its fullest, he can be certain that his offspring will remain true to Torah.
