This week's sugya discusses the topic of Machshava Mitztarefes L'Maaseh. We begin by analyzing the concept of a Machshava Ra'ah and the various applications - whether or not it results in an action. We discuss if and when one can be punished for a Machshava Ra'ah (even if a resultant action or result of the intent would not be forbidden). We discuss the status of thoughts and intentions in halacha, and whether one can be held accountable for his thoughts alone.

A famous example is Mechiras Yosef, discussed in the current parshiyos, where although the intent of the shevatim was evil, the result was the salvation of Klal Yisroel. We discuss the various mefarshim on the Parsha who address this idea.
ויוסף הוא המשביר

Shivti would like to extend a heartfelt Mazel Tov to our dear friend and recent addition to the BMG office staff - Rabbi Yosef Heinemann - and family on the engagement of their daughter Rochel to Chaim Tzvi Gutman, son of Rabbi and Mrs. Leiby Gutman. May they see much nachas from the new couple and the rest of their children.
